Welcome to the Gorilla Village Lodge! We are located at the boundary line of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorillas and a variety of exotic bird species. We employ a qualified staff ready to serve you at our newly-renovated lodge which includes a restaurant, well-stocked bar, campfire and hot showers. Our grass thatched self-contained cottages offer a comfortable but organic base to become your home while you experience gorilla treks, nature walks, bird watching, and much more. The Gorilla Village Lodge was built with the chief goal of supporting a nearby orphanage for Batwa children. Due to an unfathomable cultural myth, some men in this area believe that HIV can be cured by sleeping with a Batwa woman, leading to unthinkable acts. This leaves the Batwa women devastated and often left with children they are unable to care for.
By staying at the lodge and participating in these fantastic activities, you are giving hope and support to the Batwa community, especially the orphanage, through various programs and organizations collaborating to make life better for these wonderful people.
