Recommended itinerary shown below. Your trip may vary based on your specific interests!
Day 1: Welcome to Uganda!
Your driver/guide will be at Entebbe Airport to pick you
up from your flight and take you directly to your lodge in
Kampala. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may
be able to explore the sites in and around Kampala.
You will stay in a nice lodge with beautiful views on Lake
Victoria. The hotel has cozy safari style furnished rooms,
equipped with satellite TV, fridge bar, etc. You will be able
to settle in, relax, and get ready for your upcoming
adventure!
Day 2: To Queen Elizabeth N.P.
Today, you’ll drive from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth
National Park, Uganda’s second largest park located at
the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range,
adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. The park has
prolific game, including gazelles, Uganda kob, warthogs
and waterbucks. Be prepared to see plenty of hippos,
elephants, and perhaps a lion or leopard as well. Your
lodge is located on the edge of the park, overlooking the
spectacular Kazinga Channel. Watch wildlife at the
waterhole from your own private verandah.
Day 3: Park Game Drive & Boat Safari
Today will start early with a sunrise coffee and breakfast
before heading to the park, where you are likely to come
across elephants, buffalos, lions, waterbucks, leopard,
Uganda kob, and many warthogs. A well-deserved brunch
will be served back at the lodge in the late morning.
In the afternoon you will take a boat safari along the
Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see hippos, crocodiles,
bathing elephants, and a range of beautiful birds. This
will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.
Day 4: To Rubuguri/ Bwindi Forest
Today you’ll drive to Rubuguri, a town in the
southwestern part of Uganda close to the borders of
Rwanda and Congo. You’ll cross a beautiful part of the
country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa.’
You will pass the countryside, bamboo forests, and enjoy
great views of the Virunga Mountains.
Tomorrow, you will depart tomorrow for gorilla tracking
so it is best to get a good night’s sleep!
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking:
Today is the big day… prepare yourself for an encounter
with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain
gorilla. For most people, this is the absolute highlight of
their tour in Uganda.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both mountain
gorillas and chimpanzees – the only forest in Africa which
can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of
primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and
360 birds. This experience is simply one of a kind!
Day 6: Back to Kampala/Entebbe
After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will drive back to
Kampala or Entebbe (Airport) stopping at the equator for
the requisite snapshot and a bit of souvenir shopping.
Depending on schedules, there may also be time for
additional activities and experiences on the final day of
your trip!
